Atching Tan Volunteers

The Atching Tan project ended on 30 November 2011.  The project’s success was only made possible with the support and endeavours of our volunteers from both Gypsy and non-Gypsy communities.

Romany Theatre Company would like to thank all our volunteers for their help throughout the Atching Tan Project.

Our volunteers undertook roles such as:-

  • Research and Information

Principal Function: To research information on the Gypsy, Romany, Traveller community in East Anglia and to develop this information in a usable form for future use in the project

  • To do web based research on the changing lives and living conditions of Gypsy, Romany, Travellers in East Anglia over the last century

  • Agree research and development assignments

  • Provide a short report on work undertaken


  • Reminiscence

Principal Function: To capture and record reminiscences from members of the Gypsy, Romany, Traveller communities to be used in a Romany Archive.


  • Radio Broadcast Volunteer

Principal Function: to learn radio drama production skills, and have an opportunity to work with professionals within a broadcasting environment.

  • To take part in radio editing and programme production workshops
  • If requested to take part in production assistant activities
  • If selected to take part in writing workshops
  • To work with radio engineers in sound mixing and effects
  • If selected to be involved in performing in radio drama series

 

  •  Transcribing Volunteer

Principal Function: To transcribe the recorded reminiscences from members of the Gypsy and Traveller communities to be used in a Romany Archive and on the Atching Tan Web-site.
